Meet Margaret Garcia

Introducing local legend Margaret Garcia, a Chicana artist whose vibrant work is deeply rooted in Los Angeles. Born and raised in the city, Margaret has made a lasting impact with her art, from large-scale murals across L.A. to exhibits in renowned local museums. Her exhibit, Arte Para La Gente, which was on display at La Plaza de Cultura y Artes, brought the streets of Los Angeles to life with vivid depictions of familiar scenes and portraits of Angelenos from all walks of life.

I had the incredible opportunity to interview Margaret, gaining insight into her creative process and what fuels her passion for art. Her beautifully bold and colorful style reflects not only her love for Los Angeles but also her deep connection to its vibrant culture and people. Through her art, Margaret aims to honor and uplift the Mexican community that raised her, while preserving and celebrating the rich history passed down by her ancestors.
